It does not get much closer than it did in Saturday's Prize of Newsport in Linz, as Australia's James Paterson-Robinson beat Czech rider Ales Opatrny by 0.02 seconds. Riding the 11-year-old gelding Riboy d''Alimat (Dollar de la Pierre x Udanum) in this Gold Tour speed class, Paterson-Robinson stopped the clock on 74.25 seconds.
Ales Opatrny gave it a very good go on the 9-year-old mare Quinta (Quintero x Cassini), but crossed the finish line 0.02 seconds behind and had to settle for the runner-up position. Spain's Santiago Nunez Riva finished third on Monalisa LS (Montebello la Silla x Grannus) in 76.75 seconds, while fourth place went to home rider Christoph Obernauer on Magic (Quidam de Revel x Argentinus).
