Press release from EEF
A spectacular jump-off handed the Uggerhalne Longines EEF Nations Cup to the host nation, Denmark.
The team competition at the CSIO3* organised by Equitour Denmark was the fourth leg of the Longines EEF Nations Cup Series 2021 and also decreed which two nations from Region North, Denmark and Norway, had qualified for the series’ final in Warsaw in July.
Twelve teams jumped the first round which finished with Denmark and Belgium in the lead on 4 faults and it was these two nations that qualified for the jump-off after both had completed the second round on 8 faults. Denmark’s Zascha Nygaard Andreasen riding Quinn (Quidam de Revel x Contender) was the fastest, stopping the clock at 37.56 beating Belgium’s Thibeau Spits on Classic Touch DH (Casall x Corrado I) (38.84) and therefore handed victory to the team.
These were the scores of the winners who also managed two double clear rounds, Zascha Nygaard Andreasen / Quinn (0/0; 0-37.56), Konstantin Deeken Künnemann / AK's Crowney (Cartani x San Patrignano Cassini) (4/8), Emil Hallundbæk / Chalisco (Chacco-Blue x Quidam de Revel) (4/4) and Andreas Schou / Quadrosson ASK (Quadros 3 x Caretan) (0/0).
“Winning is always wonderful, but it’s even more special to win in front of a home crowd, even if due to the pandemic there were few spectators today,” said Denmark’s chef d’equipe Bo K. Møller. “After finishing second on three occasions it was wonderful to get onto the podium as winners today. All the riders had already been selected for Nations Cup teams, although two of them are only 23-years old, another is 26 and the fourth rider is 44. It is a young team that is working to gain experience and continue to improve. We discussed all together the strategy we should have for the jump-off, thinking about which would be the faster horse and rider combination and in the end we all agreed to choose Zascha Nygaard Andreasen who is on great form at the moment. And he proved it too!”
Great Britain finished third (8/0) with Norway in fourth place (12/0) managing to qualify for the finals in Warsaw since Belgium competes in the Central Region and Great Britain has already qualified.
Longines EEF Nations Cup Series 202: How things stand
The final shows are in sight now that four legs of the EEF Nations Cup Series 2021 have been hosted. The fifth and last Nations Cup valid for qualifying is planned for next week, from June 17th to June 20th and will be held in Bulgaria in Bojourishte. The calendar then sets the dates for a semi-final to be hosted in Budapest (July 8th -11th) followed by the grand finale in Warsaw (July 22nd – 25th) reserved to the 10 best team qualified in the series’ four regions: Region North; Region West; Region Central and Region South.
At the moment five nations have a place guaranteed in the Warsaw final with three from the Region West (Ireland, Great Britain and Spain) and two from the Region North (Denmark and Norway).
In order to find out which the remaining five nations will be, one will have to wait until the semi-final is held in Budapest where the top five from Region Central will compete (the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Slovakia) as well as the top five from Region South which will be ranked after the Longines EEF Nations Cup in Bojourishte on Sunday June 20th.
