It was the Dutch team that went away with the win in the CSIO3* Nations Cup in Drammen on Friday. The team, consisting of Jur Vrieling on Carrera VDL (Cardento x Baloubet du Rouet), Piet Raijmakers Jr. on Antares (Arkansas x Indoctro), Roelof Bril on Arlando (Ursel x Animo) and Henk van de Pol on Wilink (Twister x Landsieger) were unbeatable in this 1.50 competition, finishing with only four faults in total. “I am lucky to be the Chef d’Equipe to such a team,” Piet Raijmakers said after the Dutch team’s win.
It was a bit of change on the Dutch team, as Leon Thijssen was supposed to ride – but a freak accident with a horse resulted in a fracture in his hand. Therefore Jur Vrieling stepped in on short notice on the inexperienced Carrera VDL that never has jumped higher than 1.40 classes. “My horse was amazing,” the team world champion said at the press conference.
Denmark ended second on an eight penalty score, with a double clear round from Andreas Schou on Giljandro van den Bosrand (Orlando x Clinton). Third place went to Italy on a twelve penalty score.
