Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano and the 14-year-old Chalou (Chacco-Blue x Baloubet du Rouet) won Friday's CSIO5* 1.60m President of the UAE Showjumping Cup Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Jumping clear in 42.56 seconds in round two of the Grand Prix, Gaudiano took the win ahead of Ireland's Billy Twomey and the 15-year-old Chat Botte E.D (Casall x Darco) who slotted into the runner-up position when the clock stopped on 44.81 seconds for the Irish rider. With four faults but the fastest time – 41.67 – in the second round, Germany's David Will and the 11-year-old My Prins van Dorperheide (Zilverstar T x Winningmood) had to settle for the third place, while Latvia's Kristaps Neretnieks and the 13-year-old Quintair (Quintero x Con Air 7) finished fourth and Syria's Amre Hamcho fifth aboard the 14-year-old Vagabon des Forets (Corofino 2 x Richebourg).
The CSIO5* 1.45m Abu Dhabi Sports Council Cup went to Portugal's Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida and the 11-year-old Pegasus Cekanane (Kannan x Quaprice Bois Margot), who took the win with a time of 54.84 ahead of Germany's David Will and the 16-year-old Cento du Rouet (Chintan x Balou du Rouet) in second in 55.49. Portugal's Duarte Seabra and the 13-year-old HHS Washington (Tinaranas Inspector x Cavalier Royale) placed third with a time of 57.18.
