It was a Belgian victory in Gijon Friday afternoon when Francois Mathy Jr and Casanova de l' Herse (Ugano Sitte x Kashmir van Schuttershof ) won the Trup Gijon Rey Pelayo a 1.50m class in two phases.
With the time of 30,16 seconds Mathy Jr beat Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci and Ugano de Coquerie (Indoctro x Papillon Rouge) by 0,79 seconds leaving them to runner-up position. Behind Mathy Jr and Bucci followed Jur Vrieling (NED) and Silverstras (Quantum x Corofino) in third place, Daryo Arroyave (COL) with Uppercut Libellule (Jarnac SFx Papillon Rouge) in foruth while Ben Maher (GBR) rounded off the top five riding Winning Good (Winningmood van de Arenberg x Sir Corland).
Later in the evening the 1.45 speed and handiness class presented by Mahou went to France and Nicolas Delmotte. Riding Darmani van't Heike (Grandeur x Voltaire), Delmotte finished the track 0,65 seconds ahead of Eward Levy (FRA) with Rafale d’Hyverniere (Chef Rouge x Le Plantero). Samantha McIntosh (NZL) ended third with Estina (Heartbreaker x Achill/libero H) followed by Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) with Heartbreaker vd Achterhoe (Bentley van de Heffinck x Catango Z) and Shane Breen (IRL) with Hallowberry Cruz (Cruising x Clover Hill) as number four and five.
