Italy's Giacomo Bassi and the 12-year-old stallion Cape Cod (Tornesch x Kashmir van Schuttershof) won Sunday's CSIO4* 1.60m Grand Prix Lotto Cup, under the patronage of Wirtualna Polska, in Sopot, Poland.
Eleven horse-and-rider combinations proceeded to the second round of the Grand Prix, where Bassi posted his second clear round of the class with a time of 43.08 seconds. Only 0.17 seconds behind followed Rik Hemeryck (BEL) and Inoui du Seigneur (Jenson van't Meulenhof x Aganix du Seigneur) to take the runner-up spot, while Renee Ulvsbjerg (DEN) and Celeste Balslev (Conthargos x Con Air 7) were another 0.04 seconds slower to place third. It was tight on the times in the second round; Vanessa-Joy Nägele (LIE) and Codex-S (Codex One x Clinton II) finished fourth in 43.31 seconds, followed by Frederic Vernaet (BEL) and Paulus-L (Corydon Van T&L x Toulon) in fifth in 43.75 seconds.
