Great Britain's Harry Charles and the 12-year-old Aralyn Blue (Chacco-Blue x Ludwig As) won Thursday's CSIO5* 1.50m Suttero Prize as the traditional 2023-edition of Longines CSIO St. Gallen kicked off in Switzerland.
With a time of 36.16 seconds, Charles and Aralyn Blue were the fastest combination in a jump-off between ten horse-and-rider-combinations – with two of the twelve clears from round one opting not to jump, leaving it to a battle of ten. The host nation's Alain Jufer and the 12-year-old Dante MM (Diarado x Luxius) took the runner-up position in 36.26, while Ireland's Denis Lynch and Vistogrand (Fantaland x Mr Visto) placed third in 36.33. Germany's Hans-Dieter Dreher and Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) finished fourth in 36.78, followed by Switzerland's Steve Guerdat in fifth in 36.91 aboard Caracho (Cassilano x Quick Star).
Earlier in the day, the 1.45m Thommen Recycling Prize went to French rider Nicolas Delmotte and his 11-year-old Citadin du Chatellier (L’Arc de Triomphe x Diamant de Semilly). With a time of 31.54 seconds, Delmotte took the win ahead of home hero Pius Schwizer and Casallino (Casall x Loran) in 31.79.
