Belgium’s Gilles Thomas – current world number six – and the 9-year-old Lavanoche T&L Z (Lavallino Ter Klomp x Bentley van de Heffinck) won Saturday’s CSIO4* 1.50m Prize of Longines presented by Canton de Vaud at the Longines EEF Series Final in Avenches, Switzerland.
Six horse-and-rider combinations cleared their way into the deciding jump-off, where none of the pairs managed to deliver another faultless round. As the fastest four-faulter, Thomas took the win in 40.17 seconds, followed by Sasha Barte (SUI) and Broceliande du Lac (Rock’N Roll Semilly x Persan II) in second in 42.67 and Mira Oliva Hoeidal (NOR) aboard Mayfair (London x Cardento) in third in 43.65.
Pia Reich (GER) and PB Djazz d’Arvor (Quarz de Talma x Le Tot de Semilly) finished fourth with eight penalties in 42.01, ahead of Bryan Smits (SUI) and Coria von Hof (Coronino x HRH Pik Ayolo CH) in fifth in 42.80, also carrying eight penalties.
