This week, the fourth and last leg of the inaugural Longines League of Nations™-series takes place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Belgium, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and USA all field teams in Rotterdam. Topping the current standings in the series is Ireland on 190 points, followed by Germany on 160 points, while Belgium, France and Great Britain are at the bottom on 85 points. The top-eight nations in the league will qualify for final of the brand-new series at the Real Club de Polo in Barcelona, Spain, on 6 October.
Big names on the entry list for Rotterdam include world no. one Henrik von Eckermann (SWE), world no. two Ben Maher (GBR), as well as legends of the sport such as Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA), Marcus Ehning (GER), Peder Fredricson (SWE), Laura Kraut (USA) and McLain Ward (USA). The hosts come strong in force of course, with Harrie Smolders, Willem Greve and Maikel van der Vleuten as some of the most well-known names on the entry list.
