The 73rd edition of CHIO Rotterdam kicked off on Thursday with a home win for the hosts, as Willem Greve and Highway M TN (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Black Walter) took the top honours in the CSIO5* 1.55m AON Prize.
Counting for the Longines Ranking (Group D), and a qualifier for Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam, the competition against the clock had 52 horse-and-rider combinations lined up to start. No less than 23 of them posted clear rounds, and it was the time of 73.59 seconds that secured Greve the win at the traditional Dutch venue. Simon Delestre (FRA) and Dexter Fontenis Z (Diarado x Voltaire) took the runner-up position with a time of 74.16, while Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) on Zayado (Cayado x Casall) placed third after clocking the time of 74.26. Gerrit Nieberg (GER) and Blues d'Aveline CH (Baloussini x Coriall) took the fourth place and the fifth spot went to Denis Lynch (IRL) on Cristello (Numero Uno x Voltaire).
Earlier during the day, Hessel Hoekstra (NED) and Famariloma (Azteca VDL x Ahorn) won the CSIO5* 1.45m Dura Vermeer Prize. Jos Verlooy (BEL) and FTS Killossery Konfusion (SIEC Livello x Cruising) placed second, Jack Ansems (NED) on Fliere Fluiter (VDL Zirocco Blue x Animo) third, Lars Kersten (NED) on Hallilea (VDL Zirocco Blue x Larome) fourth and Jens Fredricson (SWE) on Karmel van de Watering (Diamant de Semilly x Quick Star) fifth.
