Ten nations have qualified for Saturday's Olympic team final in Tokyo, where Argentina will be first to go in the ring at 19.00 at the Baji Koen arena. In addition to Argentina – which was the last of the ten teams to qualify with their score of 29 penalties – Netherlands, Brazil, Great Britain, France, USA, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Sweden will be competing in Saturday’s final. Sweden is the only team that has three horse-and-rider combinations that have jumped clear in all the four rounds of competition in Tokyo – including the jump-off for the individual medals – and they are the favourites for the gold medal. However, all teams start on a zero-penalty score in the final – so it is all to play for tonight.

Two teams have used substitutions in accordance with the FEI Regulations for Equestrian Events at the Olympic Games; Brazil has swapped Rodrigo Pessoa and Carlito's Way 6 (Casall x Lordanos) for Yuri Mansur and Alfons (Aromats x False Pass), while the Dutch team has decided to replace Willem Greve and Zypria S (Canturo x Lux Z) with Harrie Smolders and Bingo du Parc (Mylord Carthago*HN x Diamant de Semilly).
