All horses that were presented at the second horse inspection at the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship 2025 in A Coruña, Spain, ahead of Sunday’s individual final, were accepted and deemed fit to compete.
Belgium’s Abdel Saïd and France’s Julien Epaillard – ranked 22nd and 19th respectively – opted not to show Bonne Amie (A Big Boy x Landfriese) and Donatello d’Auge (Jarnac x Hello Pierville). Additionally, Ireland’s Denis Lynch – ranked 24th overnight – withdrew Vistogrand (Fantaland x Mr Visto) after the horse inspection.
With three withdrawals, three reserve pairs now move up to compete in Sunday’s individual final: Marcus Ehning (GER) and Coolio 42 (Casalito x Quidam de Revel), Wilma Hellström (SWE) and Cicci BJN (Ci Ci Senjor Ask x Tornesch), as well as Robin Muhr (ISR) and Galaxy HM (Quality Time TN x Crawford).
Sunday’s individual final is jumped over two rounds, and first of these is compulsory for the 25 best-placed horse-and-rider combinations. The second and last round is open to the 12 best-placed horse-and-rider combinations, after scores from Sunday's first round have been added.
Germany’s Richard Vogel is in the lead individually, on a score of 0.01, followed by Great Britain’s Scott Brash on 1.08, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat – reigning European champion – on 1.19, Belgium’s Gilles Thomas on 1.37, Belgium’s Nicola Philippaerts on 1.72, Switzerland’s Nadja Peter Steiner on 2.11, Ireland’s Seamus Hughes Kennedy on 2.16, Great Britain’s Ben Maher on 2.35, Switzerland’s Janika Sprunger on 2.41, and finally France’s Kevin Staut rounding off the top ten on 2.47.
