Leading the way into Sunday's final for the young riders at the European Champions in Vilamoura, Portugal, Germany's Matthis Westendarp kept his cool and delivered a double clear round with the 15-year-old gelding Stalido (Stakkato x Calido) to finish on his score of 5.45 – securing the gold medal. 

Great Britain's Jack Whitaker and Scenletha (Scendix x Contendra I) also delivered a double clear round, to take the silver with a score of 6.67 as did Belgium's Emilie Conter and Balento C.S (Balou du Rouet x Cento) that jumped their way up to bronze ending on a score of 7.14 after five rounds of competition.
