CSIO5* Spruce Meadows 'Masters' 2025

Last week, the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’-tournament continued the 50th anniversary season at the iconic Spruce Meadows-venue in Calgary, Canada.

Teams from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands and USA lined up in Saturday’s CSIO5* 1.60m BMO Nations Cup, while the CPKC 'International' Grand Prix, presented by Rolex – one of the four Majors in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping – was Sunday’s concluding highlight.

As always, there was a star-studded line-up and the competition was fierce; six riders from the current Top 10 on the world ranking competed at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’. The 2025 European Champion and current world no. six Richard Vogel (GER) took three wins, topping the CSIO5* 1.55m Cardel Homes Cup and the CSIO5* 1.50m Suncor Cup with Phenyo van het Keysersbos, as well as the CSIO5* 1.60m CANA Cup with Cloudio. France's Nina Mallevaey was another rider on form: The 25-year-old – who sits first on the FEI U25 Ranking – won the CSIO5* 1.50m ATCO Cup and the CSIO5* 1.60m Tourmaline Oil Cup with My Clementine.

Di Lampard's British team ended a 29-year drought in Saturday's BMO Nations Cup when taking the top honours ahead of Germany in second and the USA in third, and the Brits yet again stole the show when Scott Brash concluded Spruce Meadow's 50th anniversary celebrations with another Major-win in Sunday's CPKC 'International', presented by Rolex. On the 10th anniversary of his Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping-title at this very venue, Brash rode Hello Jefferson to the win in this prestigious Grand Prix – claiming the lion’s share of the unprecedented prize pot of 5,000,000 Canadian dollars.

With these images, we rewind back to where it all started last week; Tuesday’s horse inspection, where the 143 horses from 18 nations competing with 66 riders trotted up. First up, who else than Brash's winning mount Hello Jefferson and his long-time groom David Honnet (above).
