Charlotte and Mark McAuley have announced the retirement of their now 18-year-old gelding Miebello (Flyinge Quite Easy 958 x Cardento 933).

On the official Instagram account for La Tuiliere Showjumping, they wrote: "It will be hard not to see you jump into the truck again and bring back countless ribbons. But what a pleasure to see you everyday enjoying the grass in your made to measure paddock. You started your harvest of victories with your breeder/rider Johan Lundh before joining La Tuiliere, Charlotte and Mark. What an endearing horse you have been for the whole family, little in size but so big in talent. Your endless courage and your huge heart have allowed you to win so many classes from Nation Cups to Speed classes, GCT, World Cups, Derby’s and more. You made so many people happy and proud. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU. Enjoy your retirement old man, you’ve earned it!"

Miebello started his international career with Sweden's Johan Lundh, who is also the gelding's breeder. At the age of 12, Lundh sold Miebello and Charlotte McAuley took over the reins. Later, when Charlotte McAuley got pregnant, her husband Mark began competing Miebello and the two also went on to enjoy huge success together. With Mark McAuley in the saddle, Miebello won the CSI5*-W 1.60m Grand Prix in Lyon in 2017, the CSIO5* 1.55m Intesa Sanpaolo Prize in Rome in 2017, the CSIO5* Speed Derby in Dublin in 2019 and also finished on the podium in the CSI5* Grand Prix in Paris and the CSI5* World Cup in Madrid – to mention only a few of the countless top results from Miebello's long career.

At World of Showjumping, we wish Miebello a very happy retirement!
