Press release from Split Rock Jumping Tour

The Lugano Diamonds Split Rock Jumping Tour (SRJT) returned to Bruce’s Field for the 2022 edition of Split Rock Aiken CSI2*, welcoming jumper athletes of all levels to the stunning venue. Thursday’s competition was highlighted by the $37,000 BetHorseSports.com FEI Welcome. Fifty-two starters attempted to bring home the lion’s share of prize money, but after a fast jump-off it was Charlotte Jacobs (USA) and North Star’s Rincoola Milsean (Aldatus Z x Cruising) who claimed the top spot on the podium.

Guilherme Jorge (BRA) set forth a track that tested athletes from twelve nations over 16 efforts in the first round, including a double (oxer-vertical) and triple (vertical-vertical-oxer) combination. Ultimately 14 combinations rose to the challenge, navigating the course fault-free.

First to go in round one, Samuel Parot (CHI) and Buga Z made the task look easy, finding the clear effort to return first in the jump-off. Once again, the pair put the pressure on with an efficient double-clear in 34.66 seconds to set the standard. It took several competitors to challenge his time until Maria Gabriela Brugal Gasso (DOM) set a flying pace in 33.91 seconds aboard Uris de la Roque. Their time proved nearly unbeatable as the following seven combinations tried their hand. The penultimate rider, Jacobs entered aboard her second mount, after earlier completing a 4-fault jump-off with Edocenta. Jacobs fully embraced her advantage, utilizing Rincoola Milsean’s foot speed to shave over a second off of Brugal Gasso’s time, finishing in 32.69 seconds to cinch the gelding’s first ranking win. Brugal Gasso would settle for second place while Parot rounded out the top three.

Competition will continue through the weekend at Split Rock Aiken CSI2* with a full schedule of events. The feature class of the week will take place on Saturday, November 11 for the $100,000 Lugano Diamonds Grand Prix CSI2*, and the weekend will close on the Sunday, November 12 with the $20,000 Sharer Dale National Prix.
