The 11-year-old SWB gelding Independent (Diamant De Revel x Careful) has been sold to Turkey, Andreas Schou confirms to World of Showjumping. With Schou in the saddle, Independent – bred by Schou's mother-in-law Lotta West and produced by his wife Jannike West-Schou – has impressed this season, winning the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Sopot, Poland, finishing fourth in the CSI5* Longines Grand Prix in Lyon, France, and taking a ninth place in the CSI5* Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in Madrid, Spain – to mention just a few of their many good results.

To World of Showjumping, Andreas Schou comments: "Of course I feel sad seeing him leave, but he will have a super new home and we will see him around the Longines Global Champions Tour next year."

On their official Instagram account, Absolute Horses released the following statement on the sale: "Thank you Independent! Bred by Lotta West in Sweden, educated by Jannike West-Schou and taken over by Andreas Schou to be a 5 star Grand Prix winner. Indi has played an important role in Andreas climbing the world ranking list and it is with ambivalence that we now say goodbye to him. He has been within the family since birth and is fully educated by Absolute Horses. We proudly send him on his way. Thank you for the ride Indi - it’s been a true pleasure."
