James Smith (GBR) and the 12-year-old gelding Arkuga (Arko III x Heartbreaker) won the CSI4* 1.55m Diputación de Cadiz Grand Prix counting for the Longines Ranking at the Sunshine Tour as the fifth week of competition concluded in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, on Sunday.

With a time of 40.33, Smith was the quickest in a jump-off between nine horse-and-rider-combinations. "I thought the course was very tough today," Smith commented in a press release from the Sunshine Tour. "I think there were nine clears from 50 starters, it was very testing all the way around. I’m just delighted with my horse, he jumped fantastic and then again in the jump-off he was amazing. I’m very grateful to the owners, John and Laura Renwick, for allowing me to have the ride on him. He’s just amazing and he just gets better and better. It’s my first time here at the Sunshine Tour and I absolutely love it, the rings are amazing, the facilities are great and I definitely plan to be back!"

Karl Robins (GBR) and Equine America G Camilla HBF (VDL Zirocco Blue x San Patriganano Cassini) took the runner-up position with a time of 40.34, while Manuel Fernandez Saro (ESP) and Acoufina PS (Action-Breaker x Contefino) placed third in 40.69. David Will (GER) and My Prins van Dorperheide (Zilverstar T x Winningmood) finished fourth in 41.22 and Michael Cristofoletti (ITA) fifth in 43.82 aboard Everest D.R (Darco x Kashmr Van Schuttershof).

The CSI4* 1.50m Medium Tour Grand Prix, also counting for the Longines Ranking, went to Canada's Kara Chad and the 10-year-old Igor GPH (Harley x Crawford). With a time of 40.05 in the jump-off, Chad bested a field of 79 horse-and-rider-combinations – seven of which had qualified for the deciding jump-off. "I couldn’t be more happy with my horse Igor," Chad said in a press release from the Sunshine Tour. "It’s our first time doing the Medium Tour Grand Prix, so it was a good result. It was definitely a tough enough course, but Igor took it on like an absolute champ and I’m very lucky to ride him."

Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) and Ma Belle (Ugano Sitte x Bayard d'Elle) took the runner-up position in 40.94, while Michael Hughes (USA) and Melodie-K van'T Kattenheye (Cornet Obolensky x Kannan) placed third in 41.25, Manuel Fernandez Saro (ESP) and Jarlin de Torres (Jarnac x Calvaro F.C.) fourth in 42.33 and Luiz Felipe Cortizo Gonçalves De Azevedo Filho (BRA) fifth in 43.16 aboard Sierra du Piedroux Z (Hunter's Scendix x Contefino).
