Marcus Ehning’s long-time partner Calanda 42 (Calido I x Chasseur I) has been retired from the sport today, the German legend announced after the 15-year-old mare had won the CSI2* 1.45m Longines Ranking class at Riesenbeck International.

Announcing the retirement on social media, Ehning wrote: “Calanda won the ranking class in Riesenbeck today. Spontaneously we decided to send her into her well-deserved retirement. Many thanks to the owners, the Nolte-family, for their loyalty and support over the years. Thank you Calanda.”

Calanda has had a long and successful career with Ehning, who has produced her from a youngster all the way up to five-star Grand Prix level. In 2022, Calanda was Ehning's partner at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Leipzig, and together the pair has recorded countless of victories and podium finishes – at venues such as Aachen, Amsterdam, Basel, La Baule, London, Paris, Prague, Riyadh, Rotterdam, St. Gallen, St. Tropez, and Valkenswaard, to mention some.

A World of Showjumping, we wish Calanda a happy retirement!
