The world-famous teams of Shane and Chloe Breen at Breen Equestrian LTD and William and Pippa Funnell at the Billy Stud are proud to present The Brilliance Horse Auction Co. – a brand new company with the goal to bring to the market twelve horses that they truly believe will become leading lights on the world show jumping stage. In other words, horses with brilliance in their DNA, in their show records and in their potential.

The BHAC came into being when the life-long friends and colleagues were discussing dates for their own forthcoming auctions to avoid any clashes in a very busy calendar. The idea came to light to join forces for two elite collections, held at two of the UK’s leading 5* horse shows – The London International Horse Show at ExCel in December 2023, and to follow, at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in 2024. Following its withdrawal from the EU in 2020, the UK is facing a unique set of circumstances, and it has never been more important for the rest of the world to see that the British breeders are open for business as usual. What better way to highlight the quality that the UK has on offer than as the eyes of the show jumping world turn to the FEI World Cup in London. With these ideas in mind, the seed was sown, and with the unbridled enthusiasm and technical expertise of the team at LIHS, preparations began for the first edition of the BHAC in London.

Lot 1 in the Brilliance Collection is the 8-year-old ‘Dallco Chance’. This stunning gelding is by ‘Casallco’ and out of a ‘Landfriese ll’ mare and has already impressed on the world stage. His record speaks for itself, with four wins under his belt and six other podium finishes in 2023 alone. Having recently stepped up to 1,45m level, one of those podium finishes was during his first 3* World Ranking Class where he came finished 3rd, piloted expertly by Louise Simpson at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour, Oliva Nova.

Lot 3 is the special 7-year-old mare ‘Geniale Star Kervec’. Her breeding is the definition of ‘black type’ with her pedigree being littered with 1.60 jumpers. She is full-sister to Shane Breen’s 1,60 Grand Prix ride ‘Cuick Star Kervec’ who has posted multiple podium finishes at the 5*W level this year. ‘Geniale’ is by the world-famous approved stallion ‘Quick Star’ ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum whilst her dam, ‘Ratina Kervec’ is herself a 1,60m jumper with Julien Epaillard. ‘Ratina Kervec’ sired by the popular and world-famous stallion ‘Diamant de Semilly’ – also a 1,60m jumper and with innumerable offspring jumping at the highest level. This impressive pedigree alongside her attitude, technique and record shows that she is sure to join her family as a world class sport horse.

Lot 4 in the Brilliance Collection already has a championship medal to his name. ‘Ballyshan B F Super Hero’ took home the Bronze Medal in the 5-Year-Old World Breeding Young Horse Championships in Lanaken this year with Gerard O’Neil. This talented gelding by ‘Celtic Hero’ and out of a ‘Lux Z’ mare is only at the beginning of his career and will only get better as he progresses to become a future Grand Prix horse!

Lot 5 has already claimed the ‘Star of the Future’ title in the iconic Hickstead International arena, winning the 6-year-old Championship title. ‘Billy Be Boss’ has gone from strength to strength in his career as a young horse, not only exemplified by his victory at Hickstead, but he was also a World Breeding Young Horse Championship Finalist at Lanaken as a 5 and 6-year-old. In his 7-year-old year, he’s already shown his quality and promise as a future Grand Prix horse by claiming 5th in the 7&8-Year-Old Final at the CSI5* Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead – showcasing his exceptional power and style. This special gelding by European Gold Medalist ‘Billy Congo’ is certainly destined for a bright future.
