The FEI Sports Forum 2025 will take place in Lausanne on Monday 31 March and Tuesday 1 April, and one of Monday's sessions is dedicated to this year's full revision of the FEI Jumping Rules. Stephan Ellenbruch – Chair of the FEI Jumping Committee – and Todd Hinde – FEI Jumping Director – will outline the proposed key changes, along with a panel consisting of Francois Mathy Jr – IJRC President, Cesar Hirsch – FEI Level 4 judge/FEI Level 4 steward, who served as overall Chief Steward at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Irene Verheul – Director of Jumping Amsterdam and Secretary General of Equestrian Organisers and Henrik Ankarcrona – Swedish Chef d'Èquipe. The session will be moderated by Jessica Kürten, Chair of the FEI Athletes’ Committee.

The main changes proposed by the national federations, stakeholders and the Jumping Committee, which will be up for discussion are:

  • The FEI Jumping Rules article 241.3 [eliminations], the wording and consequences
  • The hours of rest for horses, athletes, and grooms
  • Special competitions and if some of these should be removed from the rules
  • The implementation of young horse rules, ie. heights, time allowed, type of competitions
  • The implementation of MERs to compete at certain levels

This is the first stage in the revision of the FEI Jumping Rules, the finalised version of which will be submitted to the vote of the FEI General Assembly 2025. The FEI Rules Revision Policy 2025 outlines the main dates in this process and can be consulted here.
