Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Easy Up de Grandry (Jarnac x For Pleasure) won Friday’s CSI5* 1.55m Prix Toubin Clément at the 2025-edition of Le Printemps des Sports Équestres in Fontainebleau, France.
With a time of 64.71 seconds, the French duo took the win ahead of Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) and Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) in second in 64.91.
“This is the second outdoor competition for this horse, who is getting back into the swing of things,” Epaillard said in a press release from Le Printemps des Sports Équestres. “Last week, he made a few minor mistakes, but nothing serious. It certainly did him good to jump a bit without pressure. The idea is to have a good weekend here before going to Madrid with him. Depending on how things go in Madrid, we’ll see if we’re selected for La Baule or not. He’s a horse who seems to jump well on grass, as I’ve seen with his previous riders. That’s why I’m aiming for La Baule; but if he’s not ready, it doesn’t matter, there’s Aachen after. He’s a horse with great potential and one I’m starting to get to know better. Tomorrow, he’ll have a day before jumping the Grand Prix on Sunday.”
Gregory Wathelet (BEL) and Bond Jamesbond de Hay (Diamant de Semilly x Kannan) placed third in 65.97, followed by José Maria Jr. Larocca (ARG) on Finn Lente (Gaillard de La Pomme x Colandro) in fourth in 67.00 and Piergiorgio Pucci (ITA) aboard Hantano (Quasimodo Z x Numero Uno) in fifth in 67.09.
The second CSI5* class of the day, the 1.45m Prix Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Fontainebleau, went to Nina Mallevaey (FRA) and My Clementine (O.B.O.S Quality 004 x Kashmir van Schuttershof) ahead of Jérôme Guery (BEL) and Great Britain V (Nabab de Reve x Carolus H) in second and Francois Xavier Boudant (FRA) aboard Quercus van den Oude Eik (Jenson van’T Meulenhof x Darco) in third.
"I'm super happy with this victory with My Clémentine,” Mallevaey said in a press release from Le Printemps des Sports Équestres. “Being first to go, my coach and I made a plan to go quite quick in the second phase. I think I gained a little time at the start of the last round where I asked Clémentine for the first distance I saw. It's very satisfying to win as the first to go because there were still a lot of serious competitors behind me. Fontainebleau is a competition that's really close to my heart and Clémentine feels good here too. I came here regularly when I was in the pony, children, junior and young rider categories. It's a pleasure to be back after five years! The competition is fantastic, it's super well organized.”
