France’s Jeanne Sadran has strengthened her team of horses with the 12-year-old gelding Nopal van Tallaert (Diamant de Semilly x Pommeau du Heup), acquired from Ashford Farm. The two made their international debut together in St Tropez at the end of March, and last weekend they competed at their first five-star show in Fontainebleau.
Produced by Belgium’s Nick Vrins, Nopal van Tallaert went on to have a successful career with Australia’s Amber Fuller. With Fuller in the saddle, Nopal van Tallaert last year placed fourth in the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix in Doha, third in the CSIO5* 1.50m DHL Prijs in Rotterdam and was part of the Australian team in the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Rome. Fuller and Nopal van Tallaert were also traveling reserves for the Australian team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. At the beginning of 2025, the gelding started showing with Germany’s Jana Wargers – who competed Nopal up to five-star level before Sadran took over the reins.
“I am super happy to have a horse like Nopal – a horse with a big heart and an incredibly kind attitude – by my side,” Sadran commented to World of Showjumping. “I will be able to use his experience to support Dexter in the big competitions.”
"I am very proud to have watched Jeanne and Nopal jump their first 1.55m together last week in such an elegant way after such a short time together," Ashford Farm's Enda Carroll commented to World of Showjumping. "I'd like to thank the Sadran-family for their continued trust, and Amber Fuller and her team for the opportunity."
