Breen Equestrian is proud to announce its ongoing expansion and success, further establishing itself as one of the United Kingdom’s premier equestrian studs. With a roster of 20 outstanding stallions, the stud continues to offer breeders in the UK and Europe an exceptional variety of bloodlines.
The stud’s world-class stallions have consistently produced top competition horses performing at the highest levels of the sport. As the new breeding season approaches, Breen Equestrian reflects on the achievements of 2025 and shares key highlights from a remarkable year.
Homebred horses by the renowned stallion Golden Hawk shone on the world stage in 2025. BE Golden Lynx achieved top placements in 5* Grand Prix classes and delivered clear rounds in both stages of the Aachen Nations Cup, proudly representing Team GB with Georgia Tame. BE Sky Hawk, another talented Golden Hawk progeny piloted by Michael Duffy, secured notable results in several of the world’s richest 5* Grand Prix events and is seen as a future medal contender for Ireland. Golden Hawk’s offspring continued to impress nationally, especially at the British Young Horse Championships and in Breen Equestrian’s Summer auction.
Team Z7’s senior stallion, Can Ya Makan, enjoyed a highly successful breeding season in 2025, achieving excellent pregnancy rates. His offspring, including HHS Mercedes, formerly the 7-year-old World Champion, advanced to the 1.45m level with multiple wins and placings. Can Ya Makan progeny continue to excel in both show jumping and eventing at the highest levels, making him a top choice for British breeders.
Breen Equestrian marks the passing of its great stallion Colmar at the end of 2025, after five years as one of the UK’s busiest and most influential sires. The stud maintains an excellent supply of high-quality frozen semen in both the UK and Ireland, and Colmar’s legacy continues through his licensed son BE Bunny, who is available with fresh and chilled semen. Colmar’s progeny, including international winners BE Alcantara and BE Qvickly Star, achieved notable victories in 2025, with BE Alcantara taking a 2* Grand Prix with Georgia Tame and BE Qvickly Star advancing to 1.50m with Charlie Atkinson. The team eagerly anticipates the competition debuts of this year’s promising four-year-olds.
Cuick Star Kervec remains a top choice among breeders, consistently siring outstanding showjumpers with a remarkable percentage of his offspring competing at international level. BE Thiassi captured the British 7 Year Old Championship and qualified for the World Breeding Championships at Lanaken, while BE Wineham won the 4* Hamburg Derby qualifier and reached the 1.50m level as an eight-year-old. Z7 Pink Panther continues to be a prolific winner, stepping up to the 2* Grand Prix level at the beginning of the 2026 season and winning his Grand Prix debut, follwed again by another 2* Grand Prix win - an exceptional horse who shows his class and ability every time.
Stallions Opportunity, Z7 For T, and Orville vd Watermolen, each six years old in 2025, managed both competition and stud duties with notable success. All three excelled in Young Horse competitions and finals, with Orville representing Breen Equestrian at the World Breeding Championships.
Four-year-old stallions Vince JS, Heavy Metal Z, and BE Bunny proved highly popular with UK breeders. Vince JS, in particular, drew significant attention following an impressive Stud Open Day display and his outstanding bloodlines, attracting many Grand Prix mares. Breen Equestrian looks forward to welcoming their foals later this year.
Breen Equestrian invites breeders and enthusiasts to its annual open day on Easter Monday, 6th April. Visitors will have the opportunity to view stallions up close, observe them working and schooling over fences with Shane Breen and the team at Hickstead Place in the morning, and see their progeny from foals to three-year-olds at Pook Bourne Stud in the afternoon. The team will be available for advice, and an experienced stud vet will be on hand to answer questions.
Breen Equestrian looks forward to welcoming visitors to their Stud Open Day and wishes all breeders a successful 2026 breeding season.
