Press release from CSIO Rome - Piazza di Siena, edited by World of Showjumping
Tom Wachman, the youngest of Irish competitors at CSIO Rome - Piazza di Siena, took the top of the podium in Saturday’s CSIO5* 1.55m Loro Piana Trophy with Do It Easy (Vigo Cece x Laeken).
“It was a good course,” Wachman said. “It was quite difficult, quite delicate. It took plenty of jumping, so I was delighted with my horse today. It's my first time here. It's an amazing show, very rich in history and tradition. The grass ring is unbelievable. I'm so delighted to be here.”
Riding Do It Easy, Wachman was the only rider to get under 36 seconds and secure the win. France's Nina Mallevaey and My Clementine (O.B.O.S Quality 004 x Kashmir van Schuttershof) had to settle for second place in 36.26 seconds, while Germany's Richard Vogel with Cloudio (Casall x Cassini) finished third in 36.58 seconds.
Ireland took another win in the CSIO5* 1.45m presented by KEP Italia, the first class this morning. Jordan Coyle (IRL) was the winner in this competition against the clock, riding King Kannan GP (Kannan x Warrant). They were the best out of the 43 starters with a time of 55.60 seconds, while Christian Ahlmann (GER) secured the second place on Vivario JL Z (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Heartbreaker) in 56.16.
Third place went to Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA) and the nine-year-old Ho Plaisir Mercoeur (For Pleasure x Jarnac) in 56.35. The top five was completed by Filippo Bassan (ITA) in fourth place with Japraline (Whitesnake x Landor S) and Lorenzo De Luca (ITA) in fifth place with Golden du Breuil (Kannan x Untouchable 27).
