Iván Serrano (ESP) and Rain Man (Chacco-Blue x Pilot) were the brilliant winners in Sunday’s CSI4* 1.60m Casas Novas Grand Prix Marqués de Riscal Trophy at CSI4* A Coruña 2026.
On Friday, they had already won the first major class at CSI4* A Coruña 2026, the CaixaBank Trophy, and they rounded off the weekend by winning the third day’s class, a high-calibre Grand Prix that was decided in a jump-off between 15 pairs. Serrano and Rain Man stood out with a time of 40.58 seconds, well ahead of the rest.
The podium at the Casas Novas Grand Prix was an all-Spanish affair, with Bautista Rodríguez Debray finishing second on Vivoulette HD (Vivant x Dobel’s Cento) in 43.56 seconds and Pilar Lucrecia Cordón third on Pica Pica Z (Pilgrim x Apeltus Z) in 44.69 seconds.
The other two double clears in the class came from Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), fourth with Jesther (Cardento x Vink Guidam) in 48.08 seconds, and another Spanish pair, Carlos López-Fanjul Tartiere with Jourdain VDL (Zapatero x Darco), who finished fifth in 49.06 seconds.
The penultimate class of the weekend was the CSI4* 1.45m Prosegur Security Trophy, a pure speed class under Table C rules, in which each knockdown incurs a 4-second penalty added to the time. And when it comes to speed, the ever-fast Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) on Vasco 118 (Vivant x Chacco-Blue) was the clear favourite, and he lived up to expectations.
The Italian gave his rivals no respite from start to finish, galloping with tremendous intensity from the start line to the finish line on Vasco 118, with whom he stopped the clock at 56.82 seconds, while Colombian rider Santiago Díaz Ortega completed his round in 57.54 seconds on Chasspleen Flamingo Z (Cardento x Dollar du Murier), taking second place.
Third place in the final standings went to the rider who had gone head-to-head with Gaudiano on Saturday in both CSI4* classes: Marlon Modolo Zanotelli. The Brazilian clocked a time of 58.31 seconds on Rockwell RC (Kannan x Vink Guidam), with two Spanish pairs finishing behind him: Pello Elorduy on Champenoise de Rampán (Voltigeur de Rampan x Quintal) and Julio Arias on Sienna de Brandegem (Quickly de Kreisker x Kannan).
