It was Mexico’s Eugenio Garza Perez that went to the top in Thursday’s biggest class at the CSI4* event in Mons. The 1.50 Longines Ranking class Prix Vers L’Avenir counted as a qualifier for Sunday’s Grand Prix, and saw ten out of the sixty riders going clear over the first round track. Quite a few riders were struggling, and it was especially the triple combination at 4abc and the combination following the water jump later on that caused faults.

Eugenio Garza Perez again did a clear round in the jump-off riding Bariano (Jet Set D x Skippy), to the fastest time of the day in 38.05 seconds. Over two seconds behind followed Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Caspar 232 (Casper x Padarco), while Belgium’s own Pieter Devos was third on Dylano (Cento Lano x Athlet Z) 0.10 seconds behind the Italian rider.

Great Britain’s Nicole Pavitt won the 1.45 Prix van der Valk Congres Hotel. Riding Victor Blue (My Bjorn W x Rebel II Z), Pavitt had more than two seconds down to the runner-up which was the same rider that later would go on to win the biggest class – Eugenio Garza Perez. Nicolas Delmotte ended third for France.
