Madelen Isaksson: From ”Go team go we are gonna win this!” to ”Lets just try to get out of this alive”

CSIO5* Falsterbo Horse Show 2015

Douglas, Casallo and Madelen.

Hey everybody, its me again.

I am sorry for the delay of my post but I’ve been busy preparing for the apocolypse that we all thought were coming when the temperature dropped to 10 degrees and the wind came trying to blow us off planet earth.

As if this wasn’t enought, Nations Cup happened on Friday. A happy story now when I look back but the whole day leading up to it always makes me question if being alive really is a gift and not a curse. There is a few different stages I go through but it always starts with ”go team go we are gonna win this!” a few days before and ends with ”lets just try to get out of this alive” before going in to the ring. I have no idea why I am so dramatic about this since I am normally a very calm person but there is always something about team-competitions that has been giving me anxiety.

So you can guess my relief when Casello and Douglas jumped clear in the first round and the crowd yet again went mental and they played a silly but slightly better song! It was a class act and I am so proud of them. That also goes for rest of team Sweden that was amazing producing at least one clear round each. As you all might know by now no one could touch the flying dutchmen with their first 3 riders riding double clear, making Glock’s Congac Champlanc warming up 2 times only to make a lap of honor in the ring. A well deserved win and there was no sad faces when we tied for second place with Germany on 4 faults and hopefully secured a spot in the final in Barcelona.

Today (saturday) has been an easy day for me with only Balou’s Lady jumping the GP-qualifier at lunchtime and the rest of the day was spent handwalking and eating grass in the sun that now has graced us with its present. Douglas brought home a win today in the camel-race (yes, camel-race) where he raced the show director and Jens Fredricson with a very feisty camel that I would compare to a chestnut mare. It was hilarious!

With a win and a second place in the bag we look forward to the Grand prix tomorrow with Udermus. Fingers crossed and I will try to sum up the weekend for you afterwards.

Good night.

Madelen
