At 5 am Chinese time, Scott Brash landed on Tuesday, October 6th in Beijing in order to take part in the final of this years ́s Longines FEI World Cup Jumping China League, riding an unfamiliar horse, the grey mare Wavanta.

Scott is adding another extra touch to the selection of international riders, who, together with riders from China, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong take part in the World Cup of this year ́s China Leaguein Chaoyang Park.

The winner from last year, the current Team European Champion Maikel van der Vleuten showed already in the qualifier yesterday that he wants to defend his title, not like last year with his successful horse Ziemar, but with the gelding A Termie. He won with a great clear round ahead of  Simon Buckley from Great Britain who came second and the Chinese Ciren Bianba and Jan Phillip Weichert from Germany.

For Scott Brash it was either the time difference of 15 hours or he had not quite got the notion with Wavanta which he rode for the first time today. He had eight penalties and finished in the ranks further down, although last Sunday he ended second in the 5* Grand Prix in Los Angeles, behind Marco Kutscher. But he said he had a good feeling and is positive that he will show a good performance with the KWPN mare in the finals.

Not only does the international showjumping elite promise excitement for the finals tomorrow, but
as well in this year ́s China Leagueit will be the same. And it looks as if Hong Kong is having success this time: Patrick Lam is leading with 40 points in the ranking, ahead of his team colleague Raena Leung with 34 points.
