The beautiful stallion In Between (Toulon x Berlin) was crowned champion yesterday at the KWPN Stallion Show 2016 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In Between is bred and owned by De Radstake, the stud of the Dutch family Venderbosch. The wonderful chestnut I.Wellie R (Dexter R x Mermus R) was crowned vice champion and was later on sold for 70.000 Euro to Stal Hendrix through the KWPN Select Sale.

The bay stallion In Between has an impressing pedigree with famous sires Toulon, Berlin, Numero Uno and Calvados in a row. At the first inspection last December in Ermelo and at the second and third inspection yesterday in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, In Between stood out due to his magnificent conformation, outstanding way of jumping and tremendous movements. The Stal Roelofs bred I.Wellie R, by Ben Schröder’s talented Dexter R, also impressed with his free jumping skills.

From the first crop of the promising Etoulon VDL, VDL Stud’s Itoulon van de Katenhorst (Etoulon x Corland) was placed in third position in the champions ring of the KWPN Stallion Show 2016. In total 51 stallions were invited for the 70 days KWPN Performance Test. After completing this test with a score of 75 points or higher, the stallions will be officially approved by the KWPN.

Heartbreaker KWPN Horse of the Year

Not only young stallions made their appearances at yesterday’s KWPN Stallion Show, also the 27-year-old legend Heartbreaker entered the arena. In front of the fully packed Brabanthallen in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the still fit-to-compete Heartbreaker was presented by his owner Henk Nijhof junior from the well-known Dutch stud Team Nijhof. The KWPN announced the legendary stallion as KWPN Horse of the Year 2015, thanks to his uncountable number of offspring performing at the highest level. Not only as a sire, but also as a dam’s sire or a grandsire through his sons, the influence of Heartbreaker is invaluable. Just think of descendants like VDL Groep Zidane of Leopold van Asten, Hello Sanctos of Scott Brash, the outstanding sire Cornet Obolensky, Emanuele Gaudiano’s Admara and many, many more.

Willem Greve dominates the KWPN Stallion Competition

Acclaimed Dutch rider Willem Greve showed off his extremely talented stallions yesterday evening in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. With his great talent Grandorado TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Carolus II) he was crowned overall champion of the KWPN Stallion Competition for stallions born in 2011, while the class itself was won by Lennard de Boer and the wonderful bred Global Express (Orient Express HDC x Laudanum xx). Aboard Eldorado van de Zeshoek TN himself, Willem Greve took home the victory in the 1.50m Grand Prix of the KWPN Stallion Show. Greve also finished as runner-up, riding the quality jumper Carrera (Larino x Contender).

Michel Hendrix and his talented 8-year-old stallion Don Diablo HX (Vittorio x Calvados) won the 1.40m VHO Trophy, while Albert Zoer was crowned champion of the stallion competition for 5-year-olds aboard the impressive Florian (Zirocco Blue x Cardento). Mitchel Sonneveld and Blom’s Ever Blue (Zirocco Blue x Indorado) became the champions of the KWPN-stallions born in 2009.
