Dutch Chef d’Equipe Rob Ehrens has chosen a strong team for the Olympic Games in Rio, with four of his five riders already having gold medals from the 2014 World Championships and 2015 European Championships under their belts.

Double World and European Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam and SFN Zenith N.O.P. are on the team, as is his team mates from Caen and Aachen Jur Vrieling on VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P. and Maikel van der Vleuten with VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P. The fourth pair on the team is Vice World Cup Champions Harrie Smolders on Emerald N.O.P., while Gerco Schröder and Glock’s London N.O.P. – part of the gold medal winning team in Caen – will be reserve this time around.

"I am very happy with this team,” commented Ehrens. “All five of my riders have championship experience, and can really finish the job if necessary. It does not matter where in the team I put them."
