Emerald (Diamant de Semilly x Carthago) and Harrie Smolders became Vice Champions at the World Cup Final this year and are a part of the Dutch team for Rio. Emerald is already a popular choice among the breeders, and he has several offspring jumping successfully on the international youngster circuit

Again, Embryoauction.com offers an embryo with Olympic qualities. The most recent Olympic material, since sire Emerald N.O.P. and his rider Harrie Smolders have been selected for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. This embryo’s dam Tequila van Spieveld brought no less than four 1.60m Grand Prix showjumpers, including the world-famous Echo van ‘t Spieveld.

Dam Tequila van Spieveld is a daughter of Capital – the son of Capitol I who jumped at international level with New Zealand’s Grant Wilson. With the foundation sires Lys de Darmen and Lugano van la Roche in a row, Tequila van Spieveld carries a very strong pedigree. In addition, Tequila herself jumped at 1.30m-level. Her first successful offspring at the highest level was Amber van Spieveld, a daughter of Nabab de Rêve. After a successful period with Estonia’s Hanno Ellermann, USA’s Nicole Bloom took over the reins and competed Amber van Spieveld up to World Cup-level

Tequila’s son Casper van Spieveld is probably even better known. This son of Mr. Blue jumped successfully at the highest level with Jos Lansink and Frank Schuttert and the third placing in the World Cup of Mechelen ridden by Jos Lansink was his career’s highlight. The only 10-year-old Heartbreaker-son Gentille van Spieveld is also a son of Tequila van Spieveld jumping at top level. With USA’s legendary rider Leslie Burr-Howard, Gentille competes at the very highest level and won the Grand Prix of Harrisburg last year. In addition, he finished as runner-up in the Grand Prixs of North Salem and Rockwood.

The most famous son of Tequila van Spieveld is probably the BWP-approved Echo van ‘t Spieveld. This son of Heartbreaker has been very successful in the young horse and stallion competitions in Belgium and made his international breakthrough with Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels. A victory in the Grand Prix of Kapellen in 2013, top placings in Mechelen and Antwerp and strong performances in the Nations Cup of Rome made sure Echo van ‘t Spieveld drew the attention. USA’s talented rider Victoria Colvin took over the reins and Echo’s successes continued. Last winter, they finished second in the U25 Grand Prix of Wellington and recently they ended up 8th in the CSI4* Grand Prix of Devon.

As a sire, Echo van ‘t Spieveld produced numerous approved sons and among others the highly talented Kerswin van ‘t Roosakker. Ridden by Doron Kuipers, this spectacular jumping gelding became world champion at the World Championships for 5-year-olds in Lanaken.

Sire Emerald N.O.P. and Harrie Smolders acquired a spot in the Dutch team for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games this year. This son of foundation sires Diamant de Semilly and Carthago has been drawing the attention for many years with his phenomenal way of jumping and great international successes. This year, Emerald finished second in the World Cup Final in Gothenburg, won the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Rotterdam and finished third in the Grand Prix of Rotterdam. His dam Carthina Z produced a long list of international showjumpers, such as Diamanthina van ‘t Ruytershof (Constant Van Paesschen) and many of her grandchildren seem amazing showjumping prospects and popular approved stallions.
