As Germany's last rider in the ring, Ludger Beerbaum closed the curtains for his team career with a clear round on Casello to send his country on to the jump-off. "It could not have been a nicer end," said Beerbaum.

"I really wanted to have this win because of Ludger as it was his last Nations Cup," said Marcus Ehning who secured the 2016 Furusiyya-title for Germany after a blistering fast jump-off on Pret A Tout.

The Dutch on the other hand did not have the best day, and finished last. Here Harrie Smolders and Emerald who were first to go for the team ending on an unusual nine faults, after two rails down and a time penalty.

It did not start too good for the US team, with four faults from Lauren Hough and eight from Audrey Coulter - pictured above. But, with clear rounds from Lillie Keenan and Laura Kraut the Americans bounced back to end third.

The Swiss got off to a good start with a clear from Romain Duguet and Quorida de Treho, but the rest of his compatriots did not have luck on their side so in the end they finished 6th.

These two keep on impressing: Darragh Kenny and Go Easy de Muze have formed an exceptional partnership over the summer, and jumped clear in Saturday's final before they went on to win Sunday's Grand Prix.

Another pair that fit each other like a hand in a glove are these two: Lorenzo de Luca and Ensor de Litrange LXII. The pair jumped clear in Saturday's final, and helped Italy finish on an impressive fourth place.

Glock's London was back in the ring with Gerco Schröder, but after jumping fantastic in Thursday's first round the two finished the final on a disappointing eight faults.

World Cup Champions Steve Guerdat and Corbinian did not have the day either, and ended as the discharge score for the Swiss team with their two rails down.

The lovely Cornet Obolensky-mare Coree did a good round with Gregory Wathelet to finish on four faults after hitting the middle element of the triple combination.

Michael Whitaker and Viking taking a moment before they as cool as ice produced a clear round for Great Britain.

Another pair with the nerves under control were Christian Ahlmann and Taloubet Z who stayed clear all the way for Germany.

As did the winning couple from the CP International Grand Prix presented by Rolex at Spruce Meadows less than a month ago: Scott Brash and Ursula XII.

The next day, the Longines Challenge Cup could finally take place after first being cancelled due to disastrous weather. It was Brazil that took a deserved victory, after missing Saturday's final by a single second.

Living legend Rodrigo Pessoa got the Brazilian off to a good start with Citizenguard Cadjanine Z.

But, these two were the only ones to post a clear round: Pedro Veniss and the stunning Quabri de L'Isle. As the only combination in this competition two jump two clears, first in Thursday's qualifier and then again on Sunday, the two earned a 50 000 Euro bonus.
