Rider and owner respond to allegations of horse abuse in Cagnes-sur-Mer

The Irish rider that is alleged to have been abusing one of his horses at the GPA Jump Festival at Cagnes-sur-Mer in France, speaks out to The Irish Field.  

The rider rejects the allegations against him, and gives his version of what happened in Cagnes-sur-Mer yesterday as one of the horses in his care died at the showgrounds. The Irish Field has spoken to the rider and the horse owner, and both tell that they are devastated over the loss of the horse and the resulting outcry on social media.

“We are devastated by the events of yesterday. Both, the loss of our lovely horse Sunset Cruise & by the social media assassination of Kevin Thornton. Sunset Cruise has been part of our family for the last 5 years. We do not condone abuse in any form & we are cooperating fully with the investigation and the authorities. We make no further comments until the investigation is concluded. We want to thank all the people who contacted us offering condolences & support over the last 24 hours, your kind words and thoughts are very much appreciated at this difficult time.”
