Luciana Diniz announces retirement of Lady Lindenhof

Luciana Diniz has announced the retirement of her 15-year-old mare Lady Lindenhof (Grand Chef Bleus x Type d'Elle).

With Diniz in the saddle, Lady Lindenhof has recorded several CSI5* international wins and top three finishes over the last four years. Before Edouard de Rothschild bought the mare back in 2012 for Diniz to ride, she was seen on the international circuit under Kevin Staut and was then known as Nangaye de Kergane.

On her official Instagram account, Diniz writes that Lady Lindenhof will devote herself to breeding at Haras du Meautry in Deuaville.

#sundaystories11 - Lady Lindenhof from all sides 😉. She was the First Lady who moved to our new farm, Lindenhof, after we came here 5 years ago. When I arrived, I recalled a horse whisperer's telling me that i needed a feminine energy at the stables, for balance. At that time I had only stallions and geldings. I always thought I'm more in synch with them. So, I kept my eye out for a mare. Amazing coincidence that just some days later, Edouard de Rothschild called to tell me he'd seen a beauty at the Grand Prix in La Baule, Nangaye du Kergane. What a name! The show's commentator noted that she would be splitting up with her rider after the show. Edouard liked ther, so we tried her. And I liked her too. As soon as she arrived we re-christened her: Lady Lindenhof. I called the horse whisperer to welcome Lady to her new home. She said Lady needed a break from shows, and needed to be loved. So, she took a time out. She's given us lots of victories and fine moments in the years since. And some injuries and downtime. All along, I felt she wasn't giving everything she could. Once again I contacted the horse whisperer to try to understand what was up with Lady. She observe that Lady had had 11 foals by embryo transplant, but never carried one in her own womb. "She wants to be a mother!" And she will. We decided to retire her from the sport now, even if she could continue a bit more. I have a feeling she'll be happier as a mother than as a sport horse. THANK YOU, LADY. I love you and I am sure you will be a great mom and that you will have a lovely time at the "Haras du Meautry" in Deuaville. My onetime partner Suzie Quattro is also there.
