Friday’s biggest CSI4* class in Stockholm – a 1.45m competition in two phases – was won by John Whitaker (GBR) and Argento (Arko III x Gasper).
The couple is on a winning streak, with recent five-star victories from Doha as well as Stuttgart and on Friday evening the two could add one more win to their record.
Ending the second phase in 35,57, Whitaker was over a second faster than runner-up Angelie von Essen (SWE) with Newton Abbot (Converter x Indoctro).
The class that consisted of only eighteen horses and riders saw as many as nine being clear in both phases so it turned into a race against the clock, with Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) ending third riding H&M Forever D Arco Ter Linden (Darco x Tenor Manciais). Olivier was followed by three Swedish riders – Malin Baryard-Johnsson with H&M Cue Channa 42 (Cardento x Robin Z), Douglas Lindelöw with Zacramento (Cardento x Cortus) and Alexander Zetterman with Cordalis 8 (Corrado I x Lansing).
