USA’s McLain Ward got the ride on the Grand Prix showjumper Callas III, who from now on will be named HH Callas. Hunter Harrison’s Double H Farm purchased the now 10-year-old Oldenburger bred mare, so McLain Ward could add another superstar to his string of horses.

For the last couple of years, Callas III (Albatros x Quattro B) has been in American ownership; she was owned by Jimmy and Danielle Torano. The latter competed the chestnut mare at international Grand Prix level and had some great results, such as finishing as runner-up in the 2016 CSI4* Grand Prix of Devon and finishing 6th in both the CSI4* World Cup Qualifier of Lexington and the CSI4* Grand Prix of Bridgehampton.

Callas was bred by Harm Flessner in Germany and is a daughter of the Hannoverian stallion Albatros – a son of Accord II. As a 4-year-old, Callas gave birth to a filly called Goldie R.A.G. This now 6-year-old mare is sired by Emilion and is KWPN bred.

Over the last couple of weeks, McLain Ward and HH Callas have been competing at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington and their first results look very promising!
