Back in 2013, Cornet Obolensky kicked off our series 'Does the apple fall far from the tree?' Fast forward four years later, and the stallion has a whole lot more famous offspring to offer. It's time to take another look at Cornet Obolensky, and his most well-known daughters and sons in the sport today.
Now 18, Cornet Obolensky (Clinton x Heartbreaker) was retired from the sport in 2012 after a very successful career. The stallion won team gold at the European Championships in 2011 with Marco Kutscher in the saddle, and also jumped at the 2008 Olympic Games as well as at two World Cup Finals. Cornet Obolensky won Nations Cups in Rotterdam and Rome, and the World Cup of Zürich – all in 2012 – and also jumped to several podiums in many of the world's biggest Grand Prix competitions.
Today, his legacy lives on through his many offspring that jump at the very top of the sport.

Cornet d'Amour, out of the mare Daquiri by Damiani, is one of Cornet Obolensky's most well-known offspring. With Daniel Deusser in the saddle, Cornet d'Amour won the 2014 World Cup Final in Lyon and finished third in the 2016 World Cup Final in Gothenburg. The now 14-year-old gelding has jumped at two European Championships, and won team silver at both. He was also a part of the German team at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen. Cornet d'Amour won the 2015 Rolex Grand Prix of Den Bosch, and finished second in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen that same year. He also won the 2013 World Cup in Mechelen and Wellington, and has a long, long list of podium placings in some of the world's biggest Grand Prix classes.
Cornado NRW is another famous Cornet Obolensky-son, competed by Marcus Ehning. Cornado NRW was born in 2003 out of the mare Acobata by Acobat and is bred by Antonius Schulze-Averdiek. The stallion jumped at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, and at two World Cup Finals. He won the 2016 Rolex Grand Prix of Den Bosch, the 2014 Grand Prix Hermès of Paris, the 2014 World Cup of Bordeaux in addition to having many other top three Grand Prix finishes.
Cornado II is Cornado NRW's full-brother, also bred by Antonius Schulze-Averdiek. The 12-year-old stallion has had a lot of success under Christian Ahlmann, who won the 2016 Grand Prix de la Ville de Dinard with him as well as finishing on the podium a number of times in big Grand Prix classes around the world.
Caspar 213 is a Cornet Obolensky-son seen under Danielle Goldstein. The 12-year-old gelding is out of the mare Aristo Carts by Accord II, and is bred by Ulrich Meyer zu Bexten. Caspar 213 competes successfully at five-star Grand Prix level, and is a regular on the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit.
Cornetto K is another Cornet Obolensky-son with a lot of success. The 11-year-old gelding is bred by Johann Krull, and is out of the Calido-mare Cleopatra. Cornetto K started his career under Dominique Hendrickx before Yuri Mansur took over the reins. Last year, Cornetto K jumped at the Olympic Games with Doda de Miranda in the saddle while this year the stunning gelding has enjoyed some top results at five-star Grand Prix level with Alberto Zorzi.
Coree is an 11-year-old Cornet Obolensky-daughter, out of the mare Herz Dame by Liberty Life bred by Sabine, Susanne and Heinrich Kessler. Coree jumps at five-star Grand Prix level with Gregory Wathelet, and won this year's World Cup of Leipzig. The mare also has international victories from Vejer de la Frontera and Frankfurt, as well as many podium finishes.
The 11-year-old Cornet Obolensky-son Clooney 51 is out of the mare Fraulein vom Moor by Ferragamo, and is bred by Bernd Richter. Clooney 51 jumped at last year's Olympic Games with Martin Fuchs where he finished 9th individually, was 4th at this year's World Cup Final and has has team bronze from the 2015 European Championships.
Corbinian jumped to world-wide fame when he won the 2016 World Cup Final in Gothenburg together with Steve Guerdat. The 11-year-old gelding also has big victories from London and Spruce Meadows on his record. Corbinian is out of the mare Primavera by Pilot, and is bred by Ralf Blüggel.
Comme il faut 5 is a Cornet Obolensky-son that has had huge success under Marcus Ehning. The pair won last year's World Cup in Madrid, as well as the LGCT Grand Prix of Vienna and the Grand Prix of Paderborn to mention some of their highlights together. Comme il faut 5 has an incredible breeding, as his mother is the famous Ratina Z.
Cocoshynsky is a 14-year-old daughter of Cornet Obolensky out of the mare Penelope by Popcorn, bred by Dieter Meier. Cocoshynsky has been a real winner under Emanuele Gaudiano, and has a long list of international victories.
Cornet Kalua is a 12-year-old gelding that competes successfully at five-star level with Max Kühner. The pair was on the podium in this year's five-star Grand Prix of Hong Kong as well as in the World Cup of Zurich, and had several top Grand Prix finishes last year as well. Cornet Kalua is home bred, out of Max's former Young Rider-horse Piroschka by Platin.
Loro Piana Canada is a 14-year-old Cornet Obolensky-daughter, out of the mare Panama by Paramo K. Loro Piana Canada is competed at international level by Italian rider Filippo Moyersoen, and has several Grand Prix podium finishes on her record.
Confident of Victory, here seen with his former rider Shane Breen, is a 13-year-old Cornet Obolensky-son out of the mare Delight by Damokles bred by Wilhelm Schulze-Buxloh. Confident of Victory jumps at international Grand Prix level with Vladimir Tuganov in the saddle.
Cornet 39 is a 13-year-old gelding that can be seen under Lauren Hough. He is out of the mare Celine by Caletto I, and bred by Sabine Sternagel-Boettger. Cornet 39 won individual gold at the European Championships for Young Riders with Irma Karlsson in the saddle back in 2014, and now competes successfully at five-star level with Hough.
