FOLLOWING the huge success of the last two Elite Horse Auctions the organisers of The 2017 Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show are delighted to announce that this year’s Auction will be the focus of the Friday evening entertainment.

The Auction will be expanding this year to include foals and a limited number of special embryos, and will be run in partnership with Luk Van Puymbroeck & Gerald Lenearts, organisers of the successful Flanders foal auctions, based in Belgium.

The unique concept of selecting youngstock with ‘Black type’ dam lines will be developed this year following last year's auction success that generated total sales revenue of almost £200,000.

The strict criteria for selection ensures that every lot will be by a top commercial Show jumping stallion, with close relations on the dam side that have competed internationally at 1.50m level or above.  Luk & Gerald will be overseeing the selection process, both in the UK, and Europe.

On the evening of the auction – Friday, June 16 - Big Star, Nick Skelton’s legendary gold medal winning partner at the Rio Olympics is set to appear at The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show.

Following the highly emotional and media charged retirement of the crowd-pleasing pair at The Royal Windsor Horse Show, Big Star will form part of the Stallion Parade at the show, together with another of Nick’s former rides, the multi-award winning Arko III.

Ramiro B, the World Number 2 sire of leading event horses, owned by the Harthill Stud will also parade with them in the main arena at 6.30pm on Friday, June 16 before the Equitop Myoplast Puissance at 6.45pm and Elite Auction at 8.45pm.

Big Star, owned by Gary and Beverley Widdowson and Arko III, owned by the Hales family will be paraded under saddle while Ramiro B will be paraded in hand.

Said Show President Nina Barbour: “We are honoured to have Big Star and Arko III paraded at Bolesworth International. Together with Ramiro B they are three of the most prolific competition horses and sires in the world and the stallion parade will be a great way to get the evening off to an exciting start.”

The sale will include youngstock with outstanding potential from leading sires and dams including Big Star and Tinka’s Serenade.

Q Cornetcisse M is a brown colt yearling by Cornet Obolensky out of Edelheart M while the liver chestnut colt, Lefgozer is by Cape Coral RBF Z out of Ap-Art Z with It’s the Business in the bloodlines.

Bolesworth Show President Nina Barbour said: “The elite horse auction has proved to be a great success and is an important part of the Bolesworth International.  We are excited to be working with the team from the Flanders Auction, and with their help we plan to take the auction to the next level as a destination for owners to invest in their next superstar.”
