Sunday’s Grand Prix at the CSI4* in Samorin concluded with a 1.60m Grand Prix presented by X-Bionic Sprehe and 92,000 euros in prize money. It was Christian Rhomberg (AUT) and the 11-year-old gelding Saphyr des Lacs (Mr.Blue x First Bride) that clocked the winning time of 44,08 seconds.
Out of the 46 horse and rider combinations in the class, the best 30% qualified for the second round. Wilton Porter (USA) and the 10-year-old stallion Caletto Cabana (Cassini I x Capecanaveral) ended second 0,66 seconds behind Rhomberg. Third place went to Johnny Pals (NED) on the 14-year-old mare Wesselina (Cumano x Mytens) after the pair produced the third double clear of the day with a time of 46,86 seconds.
The time allowed set by the course designer Pierfrancesco Bazzocchi (ITA) turned out to play a part in the Grand Prix. Radovan Sillo (SVK) on the 9-year-old stallion Isidor Carcaletto (Cardento I x Concorde) placed fourth after picking up a single time penalty. Maximilian Lill (GER) on the 10-year-old mare Zara (Baloubet du Rouet x Corrado I) also fell victim of the time allowed, placing fifth with one time penalty from the second round.
