CSIO5* Samorin 2018

All eyes will be on the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Slovakia this week, as the Europe Division 1 kicks off in at the state of the art x-bionic® sphere in Samorin.

Slovakia will be the fourth of thirteen qualifying legs in the prestigious Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ series, but the first of Europe Division 1. Belgium, Spain, France, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden will be participating in Europe Division 1 this season. At the first leg, a total of eight nations will be taking part. Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland are the seven that will be looking for coveted points toward the European Division 1 standings ahead of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Final in Barcelona, Spain this fall. In addition, Brazil will join the list of international powerhouses as the eighth participating country in the event. However, Brazil is not eligible for points in Europe Division 1.

The FEI Nations Cup™ competition always provides its fair share of drama and excitement, thanks, in large part, to its ability to draw in many of the best riders in the world. The Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Slovakia is no exception, boasting several of the sport’s highest-ranked names, including five currently sitting in the Top 20 on the Longines Ranking. These include Belgium’s Pieter Devos, Italy’s Alberto Zorzi, Switzerland's Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat and Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann.

In addition to world class CSIO5* competition, the Longines FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping of Slovakia 2018 will play host to numerous CSI2* competitions for amateurs and professionals, as well as offering a range of CSIYH1* young horse classes throughout the weekend. The course design will be provided by the “Maestro” Uliano Vezzani, who has created tracks for the 2013 FEI World Cup Jumping Final in Gothenburg as well as numerous Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix Finals.

The show, which is expected to host more than 600 horses and riders, will take place at x-bionic® sphere’s nearly 380,000 square meter equestrian facilities, which include 680 permanent stalls, a 1.6-kilometer galloping track, and two exceptional footing surfaces for competitors: the grass Main Stadium and Octagon Arena, and the sand Respect and Farrier’s arenas.
