Kevin Jochems’ top horse Captain Cooper (Namelus R x Corland), owned by Stal Thijssen, has been sold. The Dutch rider announced the news of the sale on his official Instagram page last night.

The pair has had a fantastic year, winning the CSIO5* Longines BHS King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead and the CSIO5* Longines International Grand Prix of Ireland in Dublin during the summer season. In addition, they finished second in the CSI3* Grand Prix in Eindhoven and sixth in the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Falsterbo.

On his official Instagram page, Jochem writes:

“Today Captain Cooper left our stable for his new home.

Cooper has been the best horse I’ve been lucky enough to ride in my career so far - he brought me to the highest level in our sport last summer and together we have had several unforgettable moments! We won our first 5* Grand Prix in Hickstead, made our debut for The Netherlands in the Senior 5* Nations Cup and only a few weeks later we won another 5* Grand Prix in Dublin! Not to mention the many more prizes before and after which we won together.

I have many good memories which I will never forget, all thanks to Cooper :) I’m exceptionally grateful to Leon who trusted me to ride this special horse and to everybody who was part of our great success together.

I know he will do brilliantly for his new rider and I’m looking forward to seeing him compete again soon.

Thank you Cooper.”
