Asia Horse Week 2019 came to a close this evening and was heralded a huge success by world leaders in equestrian sport. In only its second year, Asia Horse Week has quickly become one of the leading forums for meaningful and insightful discussion about the equine industry and sport.

The main themes explored during the two days of Asia Horse Week were horse welfare, clean sport, education, development and Chinese milestones. In his closing address tonight FEI President Ingmar De Vos delivered a very strong message;

“It’s an absolute honour to be here for the second time at Asia Horse Week. I think we have learned a lot over the past few days. It gave us a chance to learn more about Asian culture and the long history of the horse in Asia and China.”

“Everybody is here. Everybody who has something to do with equestrian sport and the equine industry in Asia is here.”

“I think we are only standing at the start of developing this Asian horse week in Hong Kong and to making an important contribution to the equine industry and sport in Asia.”

“The FEI wants to support development in Asia and build its confidence. That is why the FEI is here,” said Mr De Vos.

In his summary of the two-day talk fest the Chairman of Asia Horse Week Raphael Le Masne De Chermont said: “We feel like we have a PDH in clean sport, horse welfare and of course breeding. I would like to thank the delegates for the high quality of their listening over the last two days.”

“A few key learnings are the incredible speed of the Chinese equestrian world and that there is so much to do and change.” “Asia horse week is your playground and I hope you will come every year on.”

EEM and Asia Horse Week is proud to partner with the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The HKJC has been a major supporter of the Longines Masters of Hong Kong since its inception seven years ago and is now proactively helping to build Asia Horse Week into a powerful rendezvous where east meets west.

HKJC Chairman Dr. Anthony W K Chow SBS JP commended EEM and CEO Christophe Ameeuw for having the foresight to establish this event.

“We can look back at two days of highly productive discussion about the future of equestrian sport.” “We have learned about new technologies that are shaping the future of horse breeding and important issues impacting on horse welfare and health and development of the sport across the region.”

“We have also reminded ourselves of the vital importance of integrity and maintaining the reputation of our sport.”

And, importantly, he added that the HKJC will continue to support the development of equestrian sport in Hong Kong.

Organisers would like to thank each of the speakers and the many delegates that came together to make Asia Horse Week a resounding success. The event will take place again from 13 to 15 February 2020 and is expected to be even bigger and better.
