We are almost there: The Holsteiner foal auction sale is scheduled for 17 August with 71 promising youngsters hand-picked for this year’s selection which of course includes everything to make the hearts of ambitious breeders and jumping riders beat faster.

But there is even more, as five foals with dressage orientation are also on offer. In addition to two offspring by Goldberg WPN son, Goldball OLD, one by former Trakehner champion stallion Millennium, and one by recently crowned Vice Young Dressage Horse Champion, Secret, there is another very special young colt with stallion potential, a full brother to last year’s highest-priced lot, by Quantensprung OLD out of Devils Bride (by Don Primero), a mare which has won the National 3-yr-old Championship. Holsteiner dressage enthusiasts shouldn’t miss out on this choice quintet.

However, considering the Holsteiner core skills are to be found in the show jumping arena, the majority of the lot selected for the Elmshorn Holsteiner foal auction sale has been fashioned accordingly. Not only in Holstein, but touring the entire federal territory, Roland Metz and his team have been scouting for young colts and fillies of the very first order, resulting in a mixture of international performance blood and the key quality of the breeding area between the North and the Baltic Sea: that is to say its young up-and-coming sires, those aspiring to following in their ancestors’ footsteps.

But back to the stallions on everybody’s lips in the show jumping community: Bubalu WPN, Diamant de Semilly, Halifax vh Kluitzebos, I’m Special de Muze, Zirocco Blue, Livello, Big Star WPN, Cornet Obolensky, Numero Uno and his son Van Gogh are illustrious names on the pedigrees, all of them stallions known for their own top-level sport performance. Other sires, like Balou du Rouet, Colman, Quiwi Dream, Diarado or else Clarimo are found on the result lists time and again through their super successful offspring.

Holstein’s jumping stallions in the younger age bracket, like Central Park, Del Arko, Million Dollar, Origi d’O, Unlimited and United Way, complement the sire list. Last but not least there is one Holsteiner stallion standing above them all: of course we are talking about the Holsteiner Verband’s current calling card, Casall. Having not only demonstrated own sport performance for many years, the Caretino son has since long been beyond reproach as a sire.

Now it is up to you to secure one of the 71 lots on offer for your future in breeding and/or sport. On 17 August – when auctioneer Hendrik Schulze Rückamp will wield his gavel for all those amazing Holsteiner foals looking for a new owner.
