After finishing 8th on the opening day, Belgium bounced back with three clear rounds from Pieter Devos and Claire Z, Jos Verlooy and Igor as well as Gregory Wathelet and MJT Nevados S to jump to the overnight lead in Rotterdam. Photo © Jenny Abrahamsson for World of Showjumping Martin Fuchs and Clooney 51 sit comfortably in 7th individually, well in reach of a medal with less than a pole separating them from the top.

Italy now sit 6th overall, and need strong performances on Friday to have a chance to earn one of the three tickets for Tokyo as France, Great Britain and Belgium are all ahead of them.

Photo © Jenny Abrahamsson for World of Showjumping This time around, it was Israel's Daniel Bluman that fell victim to the so-called blood-rule. Following a great round with Ladriano Z, Bluman went on to be eliminated. "Sad, but those are the rules," Bluman wrote on his Instagram page explaining the cause of elimination to be a spur rub.
