The Swiss equestrian magazine PferdeWoche has ranked the 2019 Nations Cup season’s best riders, and the one who delivered the most clear rounds was Germany’s Daniel Deusser. Deusser, who returned to the German team this season, jumped as many as eight clear rounds. Steve Guerdat (SUI), Penelope Leprevost (FRA) and Paul O’Shea (IRL) follow as rank two with seven clears each. In 2018 and 2017, Steve Guerdat topped the list with ten clear rounds.

Deusser jumped his clear rounds on three different horses – Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve x Mr. Blue), Jasmien vd Bisschop (Larino x Chin Chin) and Calisto Blue (Chacco-Blue x Con Air).

As rank five follows Peder Fredricson (SWE) with six clears, while eleven riders made five clears during the season: Olivier Philippaerts (BEL), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Felipe Amaral (BRA), Pedro Veniss (BRA), Nicole Walker (CAN), Cian O’Connor (IRL), Shane Sweetnam (IRL), Paul Estermann (SUI), Henrik von Eckermann (SWE), Angelie von Essen (SWE) and Eve Jobs (USA).

PferdeWoche has put together the statistics from all the Nations Cups, including two rounds that counted for the team finals at the European Championships. The only Nations Cups that are not included are the 1* and 2* Nations Cups in Järvenpää (FIN), Tashkent (UZB), Moskau (RUS) and Bojourishte (BUL).

Looking at the countries with the most clear rounds, Ireland has a superior lead with 46 clears. They are followed by Belgium with 33 clears, France with 32 clears, Germany with 30 clears and Switzerland and Sweden with 26 clears each.
