Very sadly, Christian Ahlmann’s long-time supporter Marion Jauß has passed away at the age of 80.

Marion Jauß – who was Madeleine Winter-Schulze’s sister – was a familiar face on the jumping scene and owned many of Ahlmann’s best horses throughout the years. Jauß came together with the Ahlmann-family through harness racing, as Christian's father Georg was active in the sulky. In 2001, Jauß acquired the promising gelding Cöster – that Christian Ahlmann became double European Champion with in 2003 and later on won further medals with. The success became the basis for a long-term cooperation.

On the German Equestrian Federation’s website, Christian Ahlmann has made the following statement: “I have lost my biggest sponsor and my most loyal supporter. I am very sad about her death. Marion Jauß had been close to my family for many years. She was always a strong personality who made her way completely independent of the opinion of others, who confidently decided how and who she wanted to support. She had a very special character, shaped by her birthplace Berlin – you could call it 'Berliner Schnauze', she enjoyed socializing with her protégés from harness racing and her show jumping riders, was funny, had a big heart and enormous knowledge about equestrian sports. Because of her own career in both the saddle and sulky, she was competitive and loved to see her horses win. But success was not the first priority. Rather, it was about making a positive contribution, participating in the discussion as a horsewoman and support the development of the horse. She was loyal to me in the best and hardest hours of my career. I will never forget that. It was a great pleasure and honour for me to be allowed to ride Marion Jauß's horses. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the whole family, whom I wish all the strength in this difficult time. "

At World of Showjumping, our condolences go out to Marion Jauß’ family and friends.
