This weekend, 23-year-old shooting star Bryan Balsiger secured his second senior title at the Swiss Championship in Humlikon. The silver medal went to Niklaus Schurtenberger while Martin Fuchs took the bronze.
The final day of the championship promised excitement, and it was tight among the top ten with Martin Fuchs, Bryan Balsiger and Alain Jufer leading the way in medal positions.
However, Martin Fuchs and Stalando (Stakkatol x Lando) had a rail down in the first round of the final – which allowed Bryan Balsiger with AKs Courage (Chepetto C x Lennon 5) and Niklaus Schurtenberger with Quincassi (Quintero x Cassini I) to climb up on the leader board, passing the European Champion.
In the second round, open to the 15 best riders, Fuchs delivered a clear round – putting pressure on Schurtenberger and Balsiger. However, neither of the two showed any nerves and jumped clear on the fences – only recording time penalties, which did not impact the final standings.
Bryan Balsiger already won gold at the 2018 Swiss Championship, claiming his second title this weekend. “The first title was a surprise for me, the second is now the confirmation," said Balsiger in a press release from the Swiss Equestrian Federation.
