World of Showjumping asked several highly experienced grooms to share their best tips & tricks. In this 10th part of our series, we find out what they have in their emergency kits.

 

Morgane Tresch, long-time groom for Jeroen Dubbeldam:

Anything can happen at any time and your vet can maybe not come straight away when you need it, so be prepared to have a few things as “first aid” such as:

* Cotton
* Compresses
* Vet-wrap
* Duct tape
* Thermometer
* Alcohol
* Betadine
* Alu-Spray
* Bepanthen
* Scissors
* Traumeel 

Mel Jobst, long-time groom for Marcus Ehning:

 

 

* Silver spray 
* Powder spray 
* Animalintex
* Bandages
* Pads
* Iodine shampoo
* Chinosol

Aurelie Marchiando, long-time groom for Leopold van Asten:

 

 

* Vet rap
* Thermometer
* Gamgee
* Iso-betadine
* Alu-Spray 
* A cream like Flammazine 

Denise Moriarty, long-time groom for Kent Farrington:

In my ring bag, I always have:

* Vet wrap
* Alu-Spray
* Electrical tape
* Gauze 
* Elastikon 

For traveling I have: 

* Clear eye wash
* Gastro Guard 
* Earplugs

Kay Neatham, former long-time groom for Marcus Ehning:


* Betadine to clean anything with 
* Gauze to put cream on and cover a wound
* Vet wrap
* Tape
* Veterinary gamgee to bandage with
* Cotton wool
* Scissors
* Two different types of cream, one to dry and one to sooth the wound, depending on what was needed
* Farriers pinchers to take a shoe off with

* Colosan for colic 
* NaCl to flush wounds or eyes
