The Covid 19 situation continues to permeate all areas of our live, with the horse industry no exception. For this reason, the second Holsteiner Winter Chance will be carried out online only this year. One aspect, however, has not changed: Holsteiner horses take centre stage again. Outstanding future sport partners, horses with prior competition experience, and, for the first time, broodmares with interesting bloodlines.

On 12 and 13 December, 48 horses are put to auction – and pedigrees, pics and videos of the entire lot are now open for online reviewing. Divided in two groups, the offers are to be auctioned to new owners on 12 and 13 December, respectively. The presentation of each group of horses on the day of the auction is broadcast by ClipMyHorse.TV via live stream in the morning, while the bid on – the crucial phase of most intensive bidding – starts at 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

International jumping sires like Casall, Balou du Rouet, Comme il faut or Vagabond de la Pomme, Livello, Sandro Boy, Clinton I or for example Clarimo are represented by offspring. But younger stallions like Dinken, Charleston, Brantzau or else Castle Creek also send interesting offspring.

Definitely a rarity is hip no 22, a direct son of great Caretino. The candidates of the second Holsteiner Winter Chance not only come from thoroughly-bred mare families, but quite a few are out of dams successfully shown to S level themselves, like for example hip no 4, Mr. Obolensky M. by Cornet Obolensky-Baloubet du Rouet, mare family 2269: His dam, V-Miss Baloubet boast own placings to international 1.45m level and has already produced a jumper to 1.40m level.

Or hip no 29, Calina by Calinello-Capitol I, mare family 5064: Her dam, Genua V shone in 1.40m level competitions whereas her second dam, Zange (by Lagos), has produced several show jumpers successfully shown to 1.60m level. Hip no 13, Fabienne II by Clinton-Quinar, mare family 6786, is in foal to Kashmir van Shuttershof son Casanova de Beaufour. Seven-year-old Fabienne shone in her mare performance test where her jumping was graded 9.5 and has already produced offspring.

Hip no 25, Ipanema by Caracho-Carentan, mare family 2543, same as hip no 33, Jolanda by Leovisto-Cassini I, stem 18B1, boast placings at age-appropriate 1.10m level; hip no 43, Sputnik by Sandro Boy-Quintero, mare family 3401, has placed to 1.20m.

And there are interesting offers catering to fans of Holsteiner eventing horses, as well. Like for example hip no 6, a two-year-old colt by Castle Creek-Chambertin, whose second dam, a daughter of TB sire Exorbitant, is also dam to international eventer Mr. Bass (Laura Colett/GBR).

Some of the promising candidates which had been part of the premiere 2019 auction have already been living up to expectations since: Charissa by Clarimo-Casall, from the famous mare family 104A, has placing to S** level under multiple German youth champion, Sven Gero Hünicke, by now. Chicharito LS by Fergar Mail FS-Carthago, is collecting ribbons at international level to 1.50m with Dutch rider Niels Bulthuis.

Five-year-old Picasso vd Zwartbleshoeve by Cornet Obolensky-Zidane, knocked down to Argentinian jumping rider José Maria Larocca and currently produced by Nadine Kassner is attracting attention as he consistently performs very good rounds. Moreover, some of the fillies sold through last year’s auction have been mare performance tested with very good result by now.
